What is Tools In Transit Cover?
In short, Rhino’s Tools in Transit cover protects the cost of your tools if they’re lost, damaged or stolen.
We understand that regardless of whether you’re a plumber, electrician or builder, you’ll be hard pressed to get much done without your tools, and should you find yourself in the unfortunate position where your tools have been stolen, and you have our Tools In Transit Insurance in place, Rhino will reimburse the cost of your tools (subject to depreciation) should your tools be lost, stolen or damaged, so long as proof of purchase is provided, meaning you can get back on the tools as soon as possible.

Jake, an electrician, visits a friend for the night. He parks his van outside their house where it can be seen from the front room. WHAT DOES TOOLS IN TRANSIT INSURANCE COVER?
- Rhino will cover up to £7,500 for the cost of the repair or replacement of tools you own (or that you hire) if they are damaged or stolen whilst being kept in your vehicle.
- This policy offers cover whilst your tools are stored in your vehicle, as well as whilst they are being loading into or unloaded from your vehicle.
- Cover includes damage to your tools from flood or fire-related damage while they’re in your vehicle, as well as damages from accidents, and theft of your tools from your vehicle.
- Rhino’s Tools in Transit Cover offers protection for the tools kept in your vehicle overnight, subject to the necessary security requirements being met. These include your vehicle being locked and secured, with the tools being kept out of sight, as well as your vehicle being parked in a secure location (on your private driveway, behind a locked gate, on the same street and visible from the premises you are residing in overnight, etc.)
How do claims work?
If you need to make a claim, it’s easy. You can do it by email, phone call or by First Class post. You should make your claim as soon as possible after the incident, and make sure to keep the following handy:
- Your policy number
- The time and date of the incident
- The receipt for your tools (emails are fine for online purchases)
- Police crime reference number, for cases of tool theft
You must also be sure to report tool theft to the Police within 48 hours of discovery.
