‘Twas the Job Before Christmas
There's the Queen's Christmas message, where the traditonalists in your family gather around the TV at 3pm. There's also Channel 4's sometimes serious, sometimes humourous Alternative Christmas message delivered by a different presenter each year (Marge Simpson and Danny Dyer previously held the role). Well, this year, we wrote a Christmas poem. So sit back with your mulled wine and enjoy...
‘Twas the job before Christmas and all ‘round the yard,
Was proof that someone had worked very hard,
The pallets were stacked in the corner with care,
No debris or rubble anywhere.
And there in your van, when you opened the door,
The tools were all gleaming like never before,
Sanders and grinders all neat on the shelves,
As if they’d been put there by Santa’s elves.
Bolt-cutters, chisels, crow bars and drills,
All your gear that’s paying the bills,
Hammers and spanners all neatly displayed,
All covered, of course, by Rhino Trade.
You get in your van and swell with pride,
Your apprentice sitting there by your side,
He’s always a laugh, good with his banter,
Looking forward to his PS5 from Santa.
You drop him off and head homeward,
Hoping this Christmas is going to be good,
Because this year we’ve all taken a hit,
To be honest let’s face it, 2020 was sh*t.
You let yourself in, quiet as a mouse,
Don’t want to wake the kids, or upset the spouse,
Knowing that soon everything will be fine,
Beer in your hand, or a cheeky red wine.
So if you’ve had a tough year so far,
We’re calling all tradesman, wherever you are,
Wishing you health, wealth and good cheer,
A very merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!’.
